Physico-Mechanical Properties Polypropylene/Ethylene-Propylene Diene Monomer (PP/EPDM) Binary Blends

Abstract: This study was to develop a radiation sterilized polypropylene/ethylene-propylene diene monomer (PP/EPDM) binary blends using melt blending and the mechanical properties of the blends were studied. The PP/EPDM binary blends were prepared in the ratios of 80:20, 60:40, 50:50, 40:60 and 20:80. The binary blends were then compressed for 12 minutes using the Hot and Cold Press machine and were cut into 1mm, 3mm and 6mm thickness for tensile test, impact test, hardness test and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrosco… Show more

“…As a result of ascending usage of TPVs in different applications, realizing their mechanical behavior becomes more substantial and challenging. [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] The addition of nanofillers into PP/EPDM composite can enhance the properties such as modulus, strength and stiffness. In addition to mechanical properties, an enhancement in preferable characteristics like barrier, thermal, flame retardancy and electrical properties is achieved.…”

“…In recent years, thermoplastic vulcanizes (TPVs) blends of polypropylene (PP) and ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) have always been as one of the most extensively used in industrial applications such as building, industrial market, automobile and aviation industry due to superior mechanical properties, high fracture toughness behavior, simple processability and low cost. As a result of ascending usage of TPVs in different applications, realizing their mechanical behavior becomes more substantial and challenging 1–9 . The addition of nanofillers into PP/EPDM composite can enhance the properties such as modulus, strength and stiffness.…”
