“…For silica shells grown onto iron oxide NPs using an inverse microemulsion, it was shown that the thickness of the shell increases as the amount of TEOS increases, while core-free silica NPs appear when the TEOS content exceeds the threshold of homogeneous nucleation [36,39,[47][48][49]. Typically, a maximum diameter <50 nm can be reached with this technique [23].…”

“…/Er 3 + particles were modified with as ilica shell using aw ater-in-oil microemulsion technique. [25,34] Briefly,N aYF 4 :Yb 3 + /Er 3 + (30 mg) nanoparticle dispersion in hexane (10 mL), 25 %N H 4 OH (0.08 mL), and Igepal CO-520 (0.5 mL) were sonicated for 20 min to form a transparent colloid. TMOS (0.04 mL) was added, and the reaction mixture was stirred (600 rpm) at RT for 48 h. To obtain methacrylate-functionalized nanospheres (NaYF 4 :Yb 3 + /Er 3 + @SiO 2 -MA), TSPMA (0.02 mL) was added to NaYF 4 :Yb 3 + /Er 3 + @SiO 2 particles, and the dispersion was stirred at RT for 24 h. Finally,N aYF 4 :Yb 3 + /Er 3 + @SiO 2 and/or NaYF 4 :Yb 3 + /Er 3 + @SiO 2 -MA nanospheres were precipitated by acetone (10 mL), washed with ethanol and water three times each, transferred in water,a nd kept at 4 8C.…”

“…Its promising properties such as low cost, high thermal stability, resistance towards corrosion, tuneable magnetic and optical properties, non-toxic/benign nature towards environment as well as living tissues makes a-Fe 2 O 3 worthy to investigate. 2,[4][5][6][7] Till date, a-Fe 2 O 3 NPs with diverse morphologies such as nanoowers, 8 nanotubes, 9 nanodiscs, 10 polyhedrals, 10 nanoplates 5 and needles, 11 which show morphology dependent properties, have been reported.…”

Moreover, only 5% degradation of RhB dye in the absence of catalyst and H2 O 2 and 8% using MIL ([C 16 min][FeCl 4 ] as representative) and H 2 O 2 under sunlight(Fig. 5B)is observed, which conrms the role of a-Fe 2 O 3 NPs.…”
