“…Calculated HVL and TVL are listed numerically in table 7. The decrease in both HVL and TVL by increasing Mo content for the present work shielding materials is due to the increase in the density of the sample and hence, the needed thickness in (cm) for better attenuation is decreased [5,26,27,[37][38][39][40]. The evaluation of Z eff and N eff was done using the data from the mass attenuation coefficient and using the mathematical formula mentioned in table 3.…”

“…For BaBiB glasses, the attenuation of a parallel beam of gamma rays at a medium thickness, follows the Lambert-Beer law = formula is defined as the thickness of a material to attenuate initial beam intensity by half [19].…”

“…The radiation shielding assessment is usually performed employing numerous systems for experimental measurements considering gamma rays and neutrons transmission experiments to derive some important characteristic shielding parameters such as linear attenuation coefficient (μ), macroscopic fast neutrons removal cross-section (Σ R ), and thermal/epithermal neutrons absorption cross section (Σ Abs ) 19 , 21 , 29 31 . Also, a considerable number of reliable theoretical studies has included analytical radiation shielding investigations, which are performed via various software programs that rely on validated analytical / semi-empirical models, cross-sectional databases, and/or rigid simulation engines to compute the needed shielding parameters such as; Phy-X/PSD 32 – 34 , FLUKA 35 , 36 , WinXcom 37 , NXCom 38 , MRCsC 39 , MCNP 40 , 41 , and GEANT4 42 , which is an effective way for the assessment during the initial design phase of the shield or when the required tools for the experimental measurement are unavailable.…”
