Physical Properties and Stress Analysis of Low Dielectric Polyimide Films Containing Adamantane Pendant Group

Abstract: ABSTRACT:Low dielectric polyimides were synthesized from a new diamine, bis(4-aminophenyl)-1-adamantyl phosphine oxide (DAAPO) containing adamantane cage structured group in the pendant position. Thermomechanical properties were investigated using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and thermomechanical analyzer (TMA). The thickness dependence of dielectric constant was measured using a LCR meter, and the results were compared with those of other polyimide systems reporte… Show more

“…We have chosen representative atoms and functional groups, but more can be tested. It would also be very interesting to investigate the properties of these modified diamondoids attached to a polymer backbone as previously suggested for the ideal diamondoids [38]. Such a study would be very promising in view of practical applications using polymer-based electronics.…”

“…This was because the molecules were arranged in a more ordered state when applied to thinner films. 108 Meanwhile, the bulky and rigid elements increased the thermal stability of the PI and the T d5% was stable up to 500 °C. Chern et al have conducted long-term exploration of the preparation of this type of PI.…”

“…Fourier transforms infrared (FT-IR) spectra of organic compounds and polymers were recorded on a Nicolet 520 FT-IR spectrophotometer. 1 H and 13 C NMR spectra were recorded on a 400 MHz Bruker instrument using deuterated N,N-dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO-d6) as a solvent. The 1 H NMR chemical shifts were calibrated by using tetramethyl silane (TMS).…”

“…[4][5][6][7][8][9][10] Introduction of flexible bridging units as well as bulky or cardo groups into the rigid polyimide backbone or bulky pendant groups have been widely used to improve processability and organo-solubility of high performance aromatic polymers. [11][12][13][14][15] Soluble, heat resistant and flame retardant polyimides 16,17 containing flexible ether linkage/ pendant bulky groups from unsymmetrical diamine were investigated for gas separation properties. 18,19 Similarly, incorporation of pendant pentadecyl groups into aromatic polyamides imparted solubility with slight reduction in thermal properties.…”
