Physical phenomena in new organic conductors

Show more

“…We note that a similar growth was also observed for the critical temperature T N of the spin density wave (SDW) state [40][41][42]. Moreover, fieldinduced SDWs were predicted [40,[43][44][45] and observed for organic substances [46,47]. The situation for CDWs is more complicated, since in that case the magnetic field acts not only diamagnetically but also paramagnetically [25,26].…”

“…The degeneracy of the electron spectrum in the b direction is a specific manifestation of the Landau degeneracy in a magnetic field in the case of a 2D system with a strong Q1D anisotropy. This phenomenon is called "one-dimensionalization" of a Q1D system by a magnetic field [11]. Even though the spectrum of electrons becomes 1D and their wave functions become localized in the b direction, the wave functions still spread over many chains (if E H ≪ t b ), which results in a considerable interaction between different chains [31].…”

“…The (TMTSF) 2 X materials consist of one-dimensional (1D) conducting chains parallel to the crystal axis a (for general reviews of the (TMTSF) 2 X materials, see Refs. [1,[9][10][11][12]). The chains are weakly coupled in the two others directions b and c, the coupling in the c direction being much weaker than in the b direction.…”

“…It is important to understand whether the electron-hole gapping is detrimental or favorable to the SC state formation. The opening of a partial dielectric gap has been shown to cause destructive effects on Cooper pairing [1][2][3] and, consequently, a direct way to enhance the superconducting (SC) transition temperature, T c , would be to avoid the CDW formation. The model of partial gapping [4,5] explains many of the characteristic features observed experimentally in CDW superconductors.…”
