“…In contrast, the synthesis and effect sizes for pharmacotherapy CBD treatments highlighted a mismatch between the effectiveness of the intervention and the quality of the study conducted, with the possible exception of Koran et al’s (2003) citalopram study. Caution is indicated regarding the interpretation of all the calculations across type of CBD intervention as (a) uncontrolled effect sizes are often larger than the controlled effects (Field, 2005) and (b) large effect sizes are potentially compromised once poor acceptability, unknown durability and poor treatment model fidelity are considered.…”

“…We also offer open group debates that, on a weekly basis, discuss themes related to quality of life such as self-esteem, emotional and physical health, nutrition, relationships, work, family life, personal finance management, spirituality and leisure. We have found encouraging preliminary evidence of the utility of physical exercise in diminishing gambling craving [17,18], and quality-of-life groups in consolidating therapeutic gains for extended periods [19]. Additionally, non-published data from our routine clinical assessments reveal that almost 75% of our patients, men and women, complained of sexual dysfunction and were unsatisfied with their sex lives. Therefore, we built a post-therapy psychoeducation programme in human sexuality for gamblers completing the traditional treatment package and are currently assembling a research protocol to test its effects.…”

“…The effects of aerobic exercise have been evaluated with psychological and physiological variables in other addictions, but in the population with GD there is only one pilot study prior to the two mentioned. Angelo [53] obtained improvements in the severity of gambling symptoms (including craving, frequency, spending, and emotional distress) and in psychosocial functioning after group aerobic exercise. As for other variables considered in the literature, a study in a population with substance abuse was found, raising the importance of attending to the preferences for exercise and how it is performed by each patient to reduce dropouts and achieve greater adherence to treatment [54].…”
