Physical and Digital Infrastructure Readiness Index for Connected and Automated Vehicles

Abstract: In this paper, we present an assessment framework that can be used to score segments of physical and digital infrastructure based on their features and readiness to expedite the deployment of Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs). We discuss the equipment and methodology applied for the collection and analysis of required data to score the infrastructure segments in an automated way. Moreover, we demonstrate how the proposed framework can be applied using data collected on a public transport route in the cit… Show more

“…For latency analysis, we created a 300 B packet size, which we sent every 100 ms to a remote server. The 300 B packet size is set as a standard packet size for CCAM communication [34]. Each packet received by the server was timestamped by the Network Time Protocol (NTP) and sent back to the measurement device.…”

“…Moreover, other more challenging applications need the supposed performance of 5G such as autonomous conduction, in the transportation domain. The tradeoff is road safety, addressing road congestion, and decreased environmental impact due to less wasted fuel thanks to improved vehicle management [10].…”

“…The second paper [ 2 ] introduces a framework for evaluating segments of physical and digital infrastructure, which is designed to assess their features and readiness for facilitating the deployment of Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs). It delves into the equipment and methodology employed to collect and analyze the necessary data for automated scoring of infrastructure segments.…”
