Phylogenomic revision of the family Streptosporangiaceae, reclassification of Desertactinospora gelatinilytica as Spongiactinospora gelatinilytica comb. nov. and a taxonomic home for the genus Sinosporangium in the family Streptosporangiaceae

Abstract: The GenBank/EMBL/DDBJ accession numbers for the Whole Genome Shotgun projects of Spongiactinospora rosea LHW63015 T and Desertactinospora gelatinilytica 7K107 T are QMEY00000000 and POUA00000000, respectively. Two supplementary tables and two supplementary figures are available with the online version of this article.

“…Despite its importance for the assignment of a novel strain into a genus, the 16S rRNA gene is not enough to provide a clear evolutionary perception for larger taxa, as exemplified by recent phylogenomic works [8–10]. With the advent of next-generation sequencing platforms and the availability of many bacterial genomes, whole genome-based phylogenetic analyses have become the key to understanding evolutionary relationships within complex taxa.…”

“…The genus Nonomuraea was included in the family Streptosporangiaceae by Quintana et al (2003) . The description of the family was subsequently emended by Stackebrandt et al (1997) , Zhi et al (2009) , Nouioui et al (2018) , and Ay et al (2020) , on the basis of the 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis and chemotaxonomic characteristics. At the time of writing this article, the genus Nonomuraea comprises 66 species with validly published names (LPSN, http://www.bacterio.net/nonomuraea.html ).…”
