The followingp aper dealsw ith relations between linguistics and its changing approaches on the one handand foreign language phraseology teaching and learning on the other. It focuses on mainconcepts of structuralism,contextualism,the communicativepragmatic turn,cognitivismand constructivism, because they havestrongly resonated in both:phraseologyand foreignlanguage teaching and learning. The main aim of the paper is to show to what extent the linguistic approaches changed the emphasis of phraseological units in foreignlanguage classes.
