Phrase dependency parsing for opinion mining

Abstract: In this paper, we present a novel approach for mining opinions from product reviews, where it converts opinion mining task to identify product features, expressions of opinions and relations between them. By taking advantage of the observation that a lot of product features are phrases, a concept of phrase dependency parsing is introduced, which extends traditional dependency parsing to phrase level. This concept is then implemented for extracting relations between product features and expressions of opinions.… Show more

“…The authors of [25] used a phrase-based model for dependency parsing, and those of [26] proposed a hybrid approach to phrase-and syntax-based SMTs. However, the tasks in these studies differed from the problems addressed in the present study: the segmentation and tagging problem and Korean morphological analysis.…”

To improve the performance of these methods, some authors propose hybrid approaches and introduce linguistic rules for weighting the edges in the dependencies tree [30].…”

“…In literature, some methods analyze the sources of affective states (e.g., who feels the emotional state) [5], and others the targets (e.g., what is the object of the emotional state?) [6]. In this article, we focus on the target, in the specific context of the emotions expressed in health forums.…”
