Photosynthetic Efficiency and Antioxidative Response of Soybean Exposed to Selective Herbicides: A Field Study

Abstract: Soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) is one of the most economically important crops in the world due to its nutritional value. To optimize soybean growth and yield, a wide range of commercial herbicides intended for weed control in crops are used. Although the herbicides used are selective, they can still cause oxidative stress and disturb photosynthetic reactions in soybean crops. In this work, the influence of commercial selective herbicides for weed control on the photosynthetic efficiency and antioxidative re… Show more

“…In contrast, Mishra et al [1] stated that ChlF in vivo should be measured after ~20-30 min of dark adaptation. Numerous researchers use that specified time of about 30 min in their research on maize, wheat, barley, soybean [16][17][18][19] and many other plants. Namely, the sufficient time for dark adaptation depends on the information it wants to receive.…”

“…For herbicides, a vast number of studies addressed the negative effects of DCMU (a blocker of photosynthetic linear electron transport chain) both in the laboratory and field studies. The studies focusing OJIP-based evaluation of negative effects of the herbicides used in agronomy on focusing plant photosynthetic characteristics are less frequent but their number increases [21].…”
