Photoprotective and Antimutagenic Activity of Agaricus subrufescens Basidiocarp Extracts

Abstract: The photoprotective and antimutagenic activity of opened and closed basidiocarps of Agaricus subrufescens (=A. blazei; =A. brasiliensis) obtained by different extraction methods were evaluated on Aspergillus nidulans conidia submitted to ultraviolet (UV) light. The aqueous extracts were obtained by three extraction methods: maceration, infusion, and decoction, at two different extraction times. The extracts of A. subrufescens did not present toxicity for A. nidulans conidia. A suspension of A. nidulans conidia… Show more

“…Several studies have been actively conducted on natural products to identify antimutagens because they exhibit various physiological activities while being less toxic. Recently, the antimutagenic activity of various natural materials, such as cat's claw and guava, have been reported (Almeida et al, 2017;da Costa et al, 2015;Di Sotto et al, 2015;Gontijo et al, 2018;Nag et al, 2015;Todorova et al, 2015;Zahin et al, 2017).…”

“…Wśród testów stosowanych in vitro i in vivo możemy wyróżnić również: test mutacji genowych, test aberracji chromosomalnych, test wymiany chromatyd siostrzanych. Do oceny genotoksyczności wykorzystuje się też inne organizmy, takie jak rośliny wyższe (Allium cepa [67]), grzyby (Aspergillus nidulans [68], Saccharomyces cerevisiae [69]) oraz owady (Drosophilla melanogaster [70]).…”
