Photoproduction of π 0 ω off protons for E γ ≤3 GeV

Abstract: Differential and total cross-sections for photoproduction of γp → pπ 0 ω and γp → ∆ + ω were determined from measurements of the CB-ELSA experiment, performed at the electron accelerator ELSA in Bonn. The measurements covered the photon energy range from the production threshold up to 3 GeV. PACS. 13.30.-a Decays of baryons -13.60.Le Meson production -14.20.Gk Baryon resonances with S=0

“…Δ * decays can be studied in the process γp → π 0 ωp to which the isobar Δ(1232)ω makes the most significant contribution [139]. Similarly, the reaction γp → K * Λ has no Δ * contributions [140].…”

“…Recently, differential cross sections and spin density matrix elements were determined for single ω meson photoproduction off the proton [88]. The reaction γp → π 0 ωp was shown to be dominated by Δ(1232)ω production [89]. Measurements of the beam asymmetry were carried out for various final states: pπ 0 [90,91], pη [67], pω [92], and K 0 s Σ + [84], (see also contribution of project B.1 to these proceedings).…”

“…In relation to the above issues it is worth investigating the reaction p g w  D + in parallel with the ω photoproduction on the nucleon, because the reaction is not well understood yet, with few experiments [15,16] and theories [17]. Together with the p p g w  reaction, knowledge of the reaction mechanism may help us to analyze nuclear reactions, including the study of color transparency in the nuclear photoproduction of ω.…”
