Photoproduction of leptophobic bosons

Abstract: We propose a search for photoproduction of leptophobic bosons that couple to quarks at the GlueX experiment at Jefferson Lab. We study in detail a new gauge boson that couples to baryon number B, and estimate that γp → pB will provide the best sensitivity for B masses above 0.5 GeV. This search will also provide sensitivity to other proposed dark-sector states that couple to quarks. Finally, our results motivate a similar search for B boson electroproduction at the CLAS experiment.

“…The other gray constraints are (left to right) from φ and η decays [64], and Υ decays [10]. Improved 'tree-level' limits are expected from photoproduction of X at the GlueX experiment [75]. Right panel: As above, but with the assumption that X dominantly decays invisibly.…”

“…In addition, we provide the B B→F values for all important decay modes of the B, including specific hadronic final states, in figure 10 of appendix B as there are plans to use some of these final states in future searches (see, e.g., ref. [89]). The only hadronic final state used in any search considered here is A → π + π − , which was employed in the mass region near m(ω).…”

“…The protophobic model has a similar hadronic decay width to the A below the φ; however, at larger masses its width is larger due to its larger s-quark coupling. Finally, we also provide the B B→F values for all important decay modes of the B, including specific hadronic final states, in figure 10 as there are plans to use some of these final states in future searches [89].…”
