“…The optical fiber refractive index sensor has aroused great interest in chemical and biological applications due to its advantages: compact size, high sensitivity, electromagnetic interference, and real-time sensing [1,2]. To date, various optical fiber refractive index sensors have been proposed and developed to achieve high sensitivity based on tilted fiber grating [3][4][5], fiber Bragg grating [6], the Fabry-Perot interferometer [7][8][9], the Mach-Zehnder interferometer [10][11][12], the D-shaped surface plasmon resonance [13], and the fluid-filled photonic crystal fiber coupler [14,15]. However, the aforementioned refractive index sensors are single-point sensors, which could not be used for the real-time monitoring of solution diffusion or the reaction process in safety checking of marine ships and quality inspection in chemical industry applications.…”
