Photoinduced Reactions of Tri-tert-butylindium with (Diethylamino)trimethylstannane and (Di-n-butylamino)trimethylstannane

Abstract: The preparations of [(t-Bu)(2)InNEt(2)](2) and [(t-Bu)(2)InN(n-Bu)(2)](2) by the photoinduced reactions of (t-Bu)(3)In with Et(2)NSnMe(3) and (n-Bu)(2)NSnMe(3), respectively, have been investigated. The isolation and characterization of products other than [(t-Bu)(2)InNR(2)](2) in these reactions clearly indicate that the reactions of (t-Bu)(3)In with R(2)NSnMe(3) do not proceed by simple alkyltrimethyltin elimination. A possible radical mechanism for the formation of the byproducts has been suggested. X-ray c… Show more

“…Bis(tricyclohexyltin) sulfide (Aldrich), 2-methylpropane-2-thiol (Aldrich), 4,6-dimethyl-2-mercaptopyrimidine (Aldrich), cyclopentanethiol (Aldrich), cyclohexanethiol (Aldrich), 2,5-dimethylbenzenethiol (Aldrich), and 2,6-methylbenzenethiol (Aldrich) were purchased and used as received. Trimethylindium etherate and tri- tert -butylindium were prepared according to the published procedures. , The compounds are both water- and oxygen-sensitive; therefore, standard Schlenk line and glovebox techniques were employed. All of the glassware used in the synthetic work was oven- and/or flame-dried.…”

“…15% ate complex 3 identified by NMR and XRD. In the reaction mixture, aluminium amidinate 3 was accompanied by major by-products Me 3 SnSnMe 3 (−109 ppm in the 119 Sn NMR spectrum) 14 and L 2 AlMe (L = DippNC(Me)NDipp). 13 This structural arrangement on the aluminum atom is not entirely surprising.…”
