Photoinduced Brook-Type Rearrangement of Acylcyclopolysilanes

Abstract: Previously unknown 1,1,4-tris(trimethylsilyl)-4-acyldodecamethylcyclohexasilanes (Me3Si)2Si6Me12(Me3Si)COR (16a, R = tert-butyl; 16b, R = 1-adamantyl) have been synthesized by the reaction of the potassium silanides (Me3Si)2Si6Me12(Me3Si)K with acid chlorides ClCOR, and their photochemical rearrangement reactions have been studied. The molecular structures of 16a,b as determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis exhibit an unusual twist-boat conformation of the cyclohexasilane ring. When 16a,b were … Show more

“…The 13 Cshift of the carbonyl carbon of 5b is observed at d = 239.0 ppm in the typical range for silyl-substituted ketones. [28] In line with reported CO stretching frequencies, [29] the two characteristic absorptions in the infrared spectrum of 5b at n = 1637 and 1602 cm À1 are assigned to the asymmetric and symmetric C = Os tretches of the carbonyl moiety.…”

“…On the other hand, little is known about Brook rearrangements on organometallic compounds. Stueger and co‐workers described photoinduced Brook‐type rearrangement reactions on acylcyclopolysilanes 10. Arene chromium tricarbonyl complexes are suitable substrates for the Brook rearrangement too 11.…”
