Photocatalytic Dye Degradation and Bacteriostatic Efficacy of Myco Synthesized Copper Nanoparticles by new Isolate Lentinus squarrosulus (Mont.) from Dead Trunk of Nerium odourum

P Jenavio Maria Amirtham,
R Shenbhagaraman,
R Siva

Abstract: Objectives: To investigate the antibacterial activity and photo-catalytic efficacy of CuNPs synthesized from Lentinus squarrosulus used for the degradation of commercial textile dyes. Methods: The Copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) were biosynthesized using L. squarrosulus, a new fungal isolate from the dead trunk of N. odorum. The production of copper nanoparticles using mycoextract was simple and environmentally friendly, yielding stable copper nanoparticles in a variety of shapes. Fourier transform infrared spect… Show more

“…Numerous studies show that the antioxidant and antimicrobial nanoparticles made of copper oxide and copper show promising properties during the conflict against bacterial resistance to antibiotics [1,12]. Owing to their huge surface area to volume ratio when compared to bulk, Nps (nanoparticles) are now attracting a lot of interest in the detoxification of dangerous dyes, with a particular emphasis on the photocatalytic degradation of dyes utilising metallic nanoparticle [13]. Complex dyes, of which heaps are produced and released annually, have a negative impact on aquatic life.…”

“…The maximum dye decolorization is achieved by increasing the concentration of Ag-NPs, as their surface provides more adsorption sites ( Ali and Khan, 2020 ). According to a study conducted by Amirtham et al (2023) , it was discovered that the CuNPs synthesized by myco exhibited different levels of degradation efficiency for various dyes. The degradation rates of the dyes varied significantly.…”

“…PG cells have been developed using specially constructed H-shaped glass tubes. For the oxidation of dye degradation and Bacteriostatic efficacy of myco synthesized copper nanoparticles was evaluated (12) . Except for the one window designed to block electromagnetic radiation, the H tube was entirely darkened.…”
