Photocatalytic degradation of dimethyl phthalate in aqueous TiO2 suspension: a modified Langmuir–Hinshelwood model

Abstract: A modified Langmuir-Hinshelwood model based on intrinsic reactions was proposed. Similar to the Langmuir-Hinshelwood model, the modified model predicts that both the reciprocal of reaction rate constant 1/k r and the adsorption rate constant K s are linearly proportional to the reciprocal of the square root of light intensity 1/I 1/2 . The validity of the modified kinetic model was verified with the experimental data of dimethyl phthalate (DMP) degradation. Keywords Photocatalysis Á Langmuir-Hinshelwood Á Kinet… Show more

“…The RSM has been proved to be a powerful statistical technique for obtaining optimum conditions for advanced oxidation processes and evaluating the interactions of mutually influencing parameters with a limited number of experiments323334. Compared to the classical approach for the same number of estimated parameters, RSM cannot only evaluate the interactions effects among tested operating variables but also reduce the number of experiments to be undertaken353637. In this article, for the first time, a BWO-GO composite photocatalyst is synthesized and its photocatalytic activity is studied.…”

“…k 1 is the pseudo first-order reaction constant (min −1 ). The linearized form of L-H model is: where r 0 is the initial photocatalytic degradation rate (determined via initial rate method [ 39 , 40 , 41 ]), k L-H is the L - H reaction constant (µg L −1 min − 1 ), K L-H is the L - H adsorption constant (L µg −1 ), and [ CBZ ] 0 is the initial CBZ concentration (µg L −1 ).…”
