Photocatalytic degradation of aniline with boron-doped cryptomelane type manganese oxide

Abstract: The effect of boron doping on the photocatalytic activity of manganese (Mn) oxide in aniline degradation was investigated. Mn oxide was synthesized by the reaction of MnCl 2 with KMnO 4 and boron-doped Mn oxide (occluded-B-Mn oxide or oc-B-Mn oxide) was prepared by the reaction of MnCl 2 with KMnO 4 in the presence of boric acid. The structural formulas of the Mn oxide and the oc-B-Mn oxide were K 0.04 MnO 1.90 (H 2 O) 0.54 and K 0.04 B 0.01 MnO 1.87 (H 2 O) 0.61 , respectively. Their physicochemical propertie… Show more

“…Recently, studies of the properties and reactivity of adsorbed (surface) and occluded (inner) B in goethite and manganite have been conducted. These synthetic minerals were used to simulate B‐containing oxides in soil, had relatively high heterogeneous activity ( Liao et al, 2007; Liu et al, 2010; Liao et al, 2011c), and influence the B fraction in soil ( Ren et al, 2014). Boron‐containing oxides can also mitigate toxicity of acid soil and have high B uptake efficiency by rape seedlings ( Liao et al, 2011a, 2011b; Cui et al, 2010; Ren et al, 2009, 2010, 2014).…”
