Photobleaching-resistant ternary quantum dots embedded in a polymer-coated silica matrix

Abstract: Herein we present the preparation of ultrastable CuInS 2 /ZnS-silica composites able to withstand high density irradiation for more than 100 h without degradation using a blue LED operated at 20 mA forward current. The high photostability is obtained by employing a novel polymer-infused silica/QD composite. The versatility of the (3-mercaptopropyl)trimethoxy-silane/tetraethyl orthosilicate matrix used in this study is demonstrated by incorporating QDs with positively (amine) and negatively (carboxyl) charged l… Show more

“…[ 305 ] Having high resistance on photobleaching, QDs are a suitable material for long‐term in vitro and in vivo imaging. [ 306,307 ] Furthermore, QDs are able to generate luminescence light with different wavelengths ranging from 450 to 1500 nm through tailoring the shape, size, and composition. [ 308 ] Generally, QDs are frequently fabricated as a form of dispersions in either aqueous or organic media on the basis of the needed applications.…”

“…Consequently, the time before the measurement was selected as 30 seconds when considering repeatability and accuracy of relative fluorescence signal change for fluorescence‐based determination of Ag + ions. For dynamic events such as fluorescent‐based determination or instant monitoring, the photostability of both the sensor system and the host‐guest complex is desired property for the stable analytical signal [27] . For this reason, the photostability of both compound 2 and 2 +Ag + complex was investigated for 60 minutes under daylight (Figure 4c).…”

[27] For this reason, the photostability of both compound 2 and 2 + Ag + complex was investigated for 60 minutes under daylight (Figure 4c). As given in Figure 4c, the relative fluorescence signal change for both compound 2 and 2 + Ag + complex nearly did not change during 60 minutes with a nearly 8 % decreasing, which pointed out high photostability of both compound 2 and 2 + Ag + complex.…”

“…In this method, the growth of the hybrid perovskite is confined by nano‐sized pores on the template, thereby obtaining size‐tunable hybrid perovskite nanomaterials. Products have excellent thermal stability and photostability, [32,33] and are expected to be used in the backlight of lasers and white light‐emitting diodes after being processed into thin films [34] . Four types of templates are commonly used: mesoporous metal oxides, mesoporous silicon nanowires, mesoporous silicon dioxide and metallic organic frameworks.…”
