Photoactivation Analysis of Mineral Trioxide Aggregate: Preliminary Results

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to qualitatively analyse the elemental components of a mineral trioxide aggregate material using photoactivation. The material was irradiated for two hours using bremsstrahlung photons with an end-point energy of 18 MeV from a clinical electron linear accelerator. After irradiation the gamma-ray emission of the sample was counted by gamma spectrometry using a high-purity germanium (HPGe) detector. The gamma-ray spectra were analyzed by computer software.
