“…Moreover, ΔT < T trans which could be amplified by elevating the incident wavelength intensity to 1.5x10 5 lux. The study also suggested that tensile strength for 0.1 wt% < 0.2 wt% by 40% [104]. Comparing this study with Pezzi et al Au LC revealed that although with similar T trans , actuation time was half and relaxation was one-fourth to that in Ag which may be attributed to low band gap and high conductivity in Au [97,104].…”

“…Additional potential applications of gold-nanoparticle-doped LCEs range from contact-free actuation of colloidal micro-particles to micro-fluidics and opto-mechanics, as also supported by recent theoretical investigations [82]. Very recent works on nanostructured LCE-based materials were published aiming to introduce copper-sulfide nanoparticles [83] and silver nanoparticles [84] into the LCE matrix to induce photo-actuation mechanisms.…”

“…The associated SPR generated strong photothermal conversion in metal nanomaterials, , whose magnitudes are higher by generally several orders compared to conventional light absorbers, thus resulting in great potential in a variety of applications, such as therapy, , sensing, gene delivery, etc. It is also interesting to utilize the SPR characteristic of nanometals in the exploration of photoactuated LCE materials. The wavelength range and peak position of SPR optical absorption highly depend on the type, shape, and size of the nanometals and thus can be tuned to different spectral regions . This feature paves the way for the realization of wavelength-selective actuation of light-responsive LCE materials.…”

“…This feature paves the way for the realization of wavelength-selective actuation of light-responsive LCE materials. Our previous work indicated that the wide-spectrum light sources, whose emission spectra covered the SPR absorption bands of both nanosilver and nanogold, could effectively actuate the LCE materials incorporated with nanogold or nanosilver. , In order to facilitate the wavelength-selective actuators to a new height, we report in this work a strategy of using the difference of SPR absorption bands of nanosilver and nanogold to achieve the wavelength-selective actuation of LCE materials and constructing multiwavelength controlled LCE smart devices capable of performing diversified functions. This is based on the selective stimuli-response of different domains of LCE actuators with hierarchical structures through modulating different wavelength bands of a visible light irradiation so that the actuation systems avoid the restriction of light scanning direction or position.…”
