Photo catalyst CoFe2O4–CdS nanocomposites for degradation of toxic dyes: investigation of coercivity and magnetization

Abstract: In this work, firstly CoFe 2 O 4 nanostructures were synthesized via a simple precipitation method. Then cadmium sulphide and CoFe 2 O 4 -CdS nanocomposites were prepared by a fast chemical procedure. The effect of concentration, temperature and precipitating agent on the morphology and particle size of the magnetic products was investigated. The prepared products were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Alternating gradient force magne… Show more

“…The diffraction pattern of pure CdS was well indexed with the hexagonal structure of CdS . In case of CdS-CoFe, all the peaks corresponding to CdS and as well as CoFe 2 O 4 were observed, which suggested the occurrence of both cubic phase of CoFe 2 O 4 and the hexagonal phase of CdS . Again, the XRD planes in the nanocomposite CdS-CoFe and CdS-CoFe-G are shifted to lower 2θ value, which suggests some interaction of CdS with CoFe and RGO.…”

However, the diffraction peaks in case of CdS-CoFe were broadened because of the small size effect.…”

“…Numerous methods have been proposed for synthesizing cobalt ferrite nanoparticles, including hydrothermal routes [3], solvothermal processes [4], thermal decomposition of organometallic complexes [5], and co-precipitation [2,5,6]. However, the properties of cobalt ferrite nanoparticles vary depending on the synthesis technique and reaction conditions.…”
