An investigation was undertaken during 2018-19 in Southern zone of A.P. to study the Status of available phosphorus and forms of Phosphorus in soil under major cropping systems of Nellore district. The Ca-P was observed to be the predominant P fraction under all major cropping systems could be attributed to high CaCO3 content. The highest mean values for saloid-P (16.67 mg kg -1 ), total-P (538.21 mg kg -1 ) and other forms of P (342.07 mg kg -1 ) were recorded in groundnut-paddy cropping system and Fe-P (68.77 mg kg -1 ) and Al-P (61.85 mg kg -1 ) were highest in paddy-paddy cropping system, whereas available P2O5 (166.82 kg ha -1 ) and Ca-P (173.15 mg kg -1 ) were highest in groundnut-paddy and fallow-bengalgram systems, respectively. pH showed positive and significant relation with total-P (r= 0.507**) and other forms of P (r= 0.573**) where as free CaCO3 showed positive and significant correlation with Ca-P (r= 0.432*) in calcareous soils of S.P.S.R. Nellore district. Available P2O5 showed positive and significant correlation with saloid-P (r= 0.456*), Al-P (r= 0.765**) and Fe-P (r= 0.559**), saloid-P showed significant and positive correlation with total-P (r= 0.477*) and other forms of P (r= 0.510**). Al-P showed positive and significant correlation with Fe-P (r= 0.885**). Similarly, Ca-P showed positive and significant relation with total-P (r= 0.418*).

Total Twenty-Four Samples were collected from the Four different depths of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh near the bank of Yamuna River and determined Phosphorous (P) fractions and their relationship with soil properties, The soils were Neutral, low salinity and medium to rich in organic matter in the surface to subsurface horizons. Most of the soils showed Low range in nitrogen and phosphorous and high in potassium. Among the P fractions, the most predominant were Ca-P and followed by Fe-P > S-P > Occl-P > Red-P > Al-P. The Overall results showed that the available-P, organic-P and total-P decreases with increase the depth, Where the Ca-P was significantly positively correlated with pore space (r = 0.396*), Organic Carbon ( r = 0.555*), Available Nitrogen ( r = 0.55*) and significantly negatively correlated with Clay (r = -0.324*), pH ( r = -0.226*), EC ( r = -0.232*). Total-P and Occ-P are main contributing factors for the availability of P. The regression equations showed that soil pH was the main soil property that influences the different fraction of P. The Nutrient Index of available P for Inceptisols was found under medium to low category, about 60% of Inceptisols are likely to respond of P-fertilizer.

Yams (Dioscorea) consist of approximately 600 species in the world. Yams are considered a staple food in Asia, tropical and subtropical regions. Genetic erosion and unsustainable harvesting practices are among the main problems associated with wild yam plants. This study was conducted with the objectives to enumerate wild yam species composition and environmental parameters affecting its growth and abundance. Systematic sampling of the study site was carried out based on different land aspects. Line transects were laid out in selected land aspects within the elevation range of 825 – 1935 m. Five plots in each transect with a 100 m plot interval comprising seven transects were laid out in the study area. Each plot was divided into sub-plot of 20 x 20 m, 5 x 5 m, and 1 x 1 m to enumerate trees, shrubs, and herbs respectively. Seven species of yams were found from the broadleaved forest and spearman correlation showed negative association of yam abundance with tree counts and canopy closure. The areas with higher density of trees had low count of yam abundance. Yam grows well in open canopy in lower altitudes comparing to high altitudes. Yam abundance was positively related with shrubs, herbs, soil moisture, soil organic matter, soil organic carbon, and nitrogen content. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) showed significant difference of yam abundance in 7 different transects due to different ecological parameters influencing the abundance in different transects though transect being in a broadleaved forest.
