“…The concentrations and specific radioactivities of the plasma inorganic phosphorus, and liver acid-soluble, lipid and alkali-soluble phosphorus fractions (Davidson et al 1951) were determined. The concentrations and relative specific activities, calculated as shown, are given in Table 3.…”

“…This was determined by a modification of the method of Fiske & Subbarow (1925). Separation of the phosphorus-containing fractions of liver into acid-soluble, lipid and residual phosphorus was done by the procedure of Davidson, Frazer & Hutchison (1951), and partially purified ribonucleic acid (RNA) was prepared according to Davidson & Smellie (1952). Plasma inorganic phosphorus was precipitated by the method of Stoner et al (1952).…”

“…The Schmidt-Thannhuuser m ethod of isolating DNA has been criticized (Davidson, Frazer and Hutchinson [1951]). Assuming that isolation is incom plete, extraneous phosphorus-fractions m ay be included and spoil the results.…”

“…of the sodium citrate-formaldehyde solution and counted in a G-M liquid counter. Lipid was extracted from lymphocytes by the extraction procedure described by Davidson, Frazer & Hutchison (1951); the acid-soluble fraction was discarded and the final lipid extract dissolved in 10 ml. of chloroform and counted in a G-M liquid counter.…”
