“…Measurements of the equilibrium distribution ratio of P 2 O 5 between the solid solution and the liquid phase of the slag have revealed that P 2 O 5 is concentrated in the solid solution with a high distribution ratio. 2,3) Ito et al measured the distribution ratio of P 2 O 5 for the CaO-SiO 2 -P 2 O 5 -FeO and CaO-SiO 2 -P 2 O 5 -Fe 2 O 3 systems. 2) They clarified that the measured distribution ratio, expressed by equation (1), is proportional to the T · Fe content in the liquid phase and that this relation remains unchanged, irrespective of the type of iron oxide, i.e., FeO where the subscripts SS and L denote solid solution and liquid phase, respectively.…”

“…Inoue et al have measured the mass transfer rate under this mechanism. 3) In their experiment, the C 2 S particles, which were stabilized by B 2 O 3 , were mixed with the C 2 S-saturated molten slag containing 1 to 5 % P 2 O 5 . Initial size of C 2 S particles was 20-50 mm, and the experimental temperature was changed from 1 573 to 1 833 K. It was clarified that the mass transfer rate by this mechanism was very high and that the distribution ratio of P 2 O 5 reached equilibrium in less than 10 s.…”

“…Several investigations have been carried out to clarify the reaction of solid CaO in a molten slag. [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8] The process of dissolving CaO is quite complicated because the melting point changes in accordance with the CaO content. When the melting point increases, some crystal-phase precipitation occurs.…”

“…There have been an increasing number of reports on solid-liquid phosphorus distribution, 6,7) phase equilibrium, 8) thermodynamic properties, 9) and solid-liquid reaction mechanisms 10) in the multi-phase flux. However, dephosphorization slag is a complex system involving many solid solutions with many aspects still to be elucidated.…”
