Phosphineoxide-Chelated Europium(III) Nanoparticles for Ceftriaxone Detection

Abstract: The present work demonstrates the optimization of the ligand structure in the series of bis(phosphine oxide) and β-ketophosphine oxide representatives for efficient coordination of Tb3+ and Eu3+ ions with the formation of the complexes exhibiting high Tb3+- and Eu3+-centered luminescence. The analysis of the stoichiometry and structure of the lanthanide complexes obtained using the XRD method reveals the great impact of the bridging group nature between two phosphine oxide moieties on the coordination mode of … Show more

“…2 The ability of the phosphine oxide group to facilitate this sensitization process has also been investigated, but to a lesser extent. [15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22] Our goal with this work was to tease out the role of each functional group of the ligandthe carbonyl vs. the phosphine oxidein both the Ln(III) binding and luminescence properties of its resultant complexes. To investigate this, we prepared the three derivatives 2-4 shown in Fig.…”

“…Phosphine oxides with an additional functional group are effective ligands for preparing complexes with lanthanides [1] with promising photophysical properties for fabricating OLEDs [2][3][4] or detecting various compounds [5]. Another class of well-studied ligands for complex synthesis with lanthanides are β-diketones [6].…”
