Phosphate ester groups‐containing ricinoleic acid‐based Ca/Zn: Preparation and application as novel thermal stabilizer for PVC

Abstract: Phosphate ester groups containing ricinoleic acid‐based Ca/Zn (LPPRA‐Ca and LPPRA‐Zn) stabilizer was successfully synthesized from ricinoleic acid (RA) and used as thermal stabilizers for poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC). These thermal stabilizers were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectrometry, 1H nuclear magnetic resonance, and inductively‐coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy. “…According to previous reports, the phosphite auxiliary thermal stabilizers, such as TP, are capable of absorbing hydrogen chloride, replacing unstable chlorine atoms, inhibiting conjugated polyene sequence, and passivating the catalytic active sites of PVC degradation. 27 Therefore, TP is used together with Zn–Atz/CaSt 2 (1 : 1) to further optimize the initial and long-term thermal stability of PVC sample, as shown in Table 1. With the increase of TP content in the composite thermal stabilizer, the T s of the PVC/Zn–Atz/CaSt 2 /TP sample increases from 46.97 min to 66.17 min, and its initial coloring is significantly improved.…”
