“…Accordingly, research on the development of drought‐tolerant crop plants is of critical importance. Accumulating evidence has revealed the important roles of PLATZs in response to environmental stimuli (González‐Morales et al., 2016; Liu et al., 2020; K. Zhang et al., 2022; S. Zhang et al., 2018). There are many PLATZ members in each plant species.…”

“…By contrast, GmPLATZ17 reduces the drought tolerance of Glycine max (soybean) through suppressing the transcription of GmDREB5 (Zhao et al., 2022), suggesting that PLATZ s also play different roles in regulating drought tolerance. Structurally, PLATZs consist of the N‐terminal conservative zinc‐binding motif, the 60–65 amino acid intervening sequence, and the central conservative zinc‐binding motif, which are required for their zinc‐dependent DNA binding capability (Zhang et al., 2022). These highly conserved motifs may suggest the redundant role between PLATZ members.…”

“…Thus, efficient water transport capacity was the basis for bamboo growth. Many TFs of moso bamboo have been reported to be involved in response to stress, such as PeTCP10, PhebZIP47, and PhePLATZ1 playing positive regulatory roles in drought resistance (Liu et al ., 2020; K. Zhang et al ., 2022; Lan et al ., 2023). Recent evidence has proposed a novel hypothesis regarding the mechanisms of nonstructural carbohydrate and water balance during the rapid growth of bamboo shoots, with the involvement of aquaporins (Sun et al ., 2018).…”
