Abstract:Adaptively modulated optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (AMOOFDM) using phase modulation (PM) (AMOOFDM-PM) is proposed and theoretically explored, for the first time, in intensity modulation and direct detection (IMDD) single-mode fibre systems. AMOOFDM-PM utilises an electrical OFDM signal to modulate the phase of a RF carrier prior to performing optical intensity modulation. Compared to conventional AMOOFDM based on amplitude modulation, AMOOFDM-PM can not only significantly lower the minimum… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
