Phase-height mapping and coordinate calibration simultaneously in phase-measuring profilometry

Abstract: A new method for both the phase-height mapping and the 3-D coordinate calibration in phase-measuring profilometry (PMP) is presented. A calibration gauge containing four virtual calibration planes is designed. The application of the calibration gauge avoids the translation of the standard plane during the calibration process. Furthermore, circular steps are designed to calibrate lateral coordinates automatically. With this calibration gauge, both the phase-height mapping and lateral coordinates calibration cou… Show more

“…It has been more and more widely employed in industrial applications such as quality inspection, reverse engineering, interactive design, and so on [2,3]. In PSFPP, the height is derived from the phase of the captured sinusoidal fringe pattern regardless of the employed 3D reconstruction strategies [4][5][6][7][8][9]. Hence, the phase accuracy directly determines the 3D measurement accuracy.…”
