Phase Equilibria of H2S-Hydrocarbons (Propane, n-Butane, and n-Pentane) Binary Systems at Low Temperatures

Abstract: Isothermal vapor–liquid equilibrium measurements of three binary systems, H2S + propane, H2S + n-butane, and H2S + n-pentane, have been performed with a static synthetic apparatus at low temperatures. The method of Barker has been implemented to determine the corresponding nonrandom two-liquid (NRTL) parameters and to calculate the liquid mole fractions. The results have been further used along with literature data to adjust binary interaction parameters of the Peng–Robinson equation of state. Good agreement w… Show more

“…A “static-synthetic” technique based on a closed-circuit method was used for the determination of CO 2 solubility in the solvents. In this method, which is explained in detail in the Supporting Information (Text S1 and Figures S3 and S4), the system pressure is measured at constant temperature for different overall compositions.…”

“…However, the vapor phase compositions are computed (through SRK EoS [21]) rather than experimentally determined. In practice, the vapor phase volume needs to be minimized so that the global composition is close to the liquid phase composition, as pointed out by Dicko et al [30].…”
