“…10 shows a typical XRD trace of one of our electrodes after 50 cycles of charge and discharge. This figure confirms the presence of a-Fe but we haven't found any evidence of other polymorphs of iron (neither b-Fe nor g-Fe), nor we have found compelling evidence of the presence of the spinel Fe 3 O 4 [41]; however, we had found a weak signal appearing approximately at 2q ¼ 24 which would correspond to either aFe 2 O 3 or Fe(OH) 2 ; note the transformation of Fe 3 O 4 into a-Fe 2 O 3 have been reported to be possible [42]. From the XRD analysis, it follows that all observed sulphur related peaks belong to diffraction reflections of hexagonal iron sulphide (P6 3 /mmc, space group 194).…”

“…The Fe 3 O 4 NPs have been prepared via hydrolytic reaction based on chemical co‐precipitation of metal salts with an alkali as reported earlier 5. Briefly, 0.32 M FeCl 2 and 0.64 M FeCl 3 were added to 2 mL of deoxygenated water (containing 12.1 N HCl) with continuous stirring at 30 °C.…”

“…However, the inclination of Fe 3 O 4 NPs towards oxidation and agglomeration limits its applications. Encasing Fe 3 O 4 colloids in a shell of different material may prevent oxidation and agglomeration of Fe 3 O 4 NPs 5. In particular, capping of Fe 3 O 4 NPs with Prussian blue (PB), an electroactive material, can prevent oxidation and agglomeration of NPs alongwith enhancing their electrochemical activity.…”
