Pharmacological Effects of Polyphenol Phytochemicals on the JAK-STAT Signaling Pathway

Abstract: The JAK-STAT signaling pathway is a common pathway of many cytokine signal transductions, closely related to cell proliferation, apoptosis, differentiation, and inflammatory response. It is essential for inhibiting the inflammatory response, initiating innate immunity, and coordinating adaptive immune mechanisms. Owing to the nature of this pathway and its potential cross-epitopes with multiple alternative pathways, the long-term efficacy of monotherapy-based adaptive targeting therapy is limited, and the majo… Show more

“…These differences may be due to bioactive components of TT supplementation [ 41 ]. TT´s muscle protective action via flavonoids, alkaloids, phenols, and saponins [ 15 , 39 ] are necessary to have an antioxidant and/or anti-inflammatory effect [ 11 , 42 ]. Therefore, in tissue injury skeletal muscle, membrane permeability would be reduced, thereby reducing the release of muscle-damaging enzymes from skeletal muscle into the blood circulation [ 41 ].…”

“…• Quercetin treatment with activated T cells shows blocking of IL-12induced tyrosine phosphorylation of TYK2, JAK2, STAT3, and STAT4, resulting in a decrease in IL-12-induced T-cell proliferation and Th1 differentiation (Fig. 6) [42].…”

“…The JAK family comprises of JAK1-3 and TYK2. The STAT family has seven members, including STAT1-4, STAT5a, STAT5b, and STAT6 ( 106 ). JAK-STAT signaling is known to play a critical role in IFN-mediated inhibition of HBV replication ( 3 ).…”
