Abstract:to the absence of anemia (compensated hemolytic anemia) and the increase of hepcidine could be explained by the high ferritin levels. In the ineffective erythropoiesis group, despite the anemia, no statistically significant ERFE-hepcidin levels were observed. In splenectomized HS patients, ERFE/hepcidine levels were similar to those of the control group. The newly identified ERFE hormone may act as physiological hepcidin suppressor in cases with IDA, but we have to establish this relationship in other types of… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
