Petrology of the meta-mafic rocks from the Lolodorf area, Nyong complex (Southwest Cameroon): implication for the origin and emplacement conditions

Abstract: This study presents the new petrology and geochemistry data for the comprehension of the origin and emplacement conditions of the Lolodorf mafic rocks whitin the Nyong Complex. The meta-mafic rocks consist of fine-grained garnet meta-mafic (FGM) and coarse-grained garnet meta-mafic (CGM) rocks presenting nearly similar mineral composition. They are made up of quartz, plagioclase, garnet orthopyroxene, clinopyroxene, amphibole, opaques, apatite and rutile. They also present recrystallization features such as qu… Show more

“…Meta-ma c rocks in Lolodorf (melanocratic, ne to coarse-grained, and localy foliated) form dykes, sills, and lenses in charnockitic gneisses [59,73]. These rocks are composed of garnet, clinopyroxene, amphibole, quartz, plagioclase, apatite, ilmenite, and rutile [74]. Amphibolites and metadolerite outcroping in Ako'Ozam-Njabilobe have the following composition [69]: (1) amphibolites are composed of amphibole, garnet, plagioclase, iron oxides, quartz, and/or biotite; and (2) metadolerites are dominantly composed of plagioclase, pyroxene, and amphibole, with few magnetite, hematite, quartz, biotite, and microcline.…”
