Petrography and Sulphur Isotope Studies of Pyrites in the Muteh Gold Deposit

Abstract: Problem statement:The Muteh mining district is located in 70 km northeast of Golpaygan city within the Sanandaj-Sirjan metamorphic belt. There are 2 gold mines, 7 gold occurrences and numerous mineral indices in the Muteh gold district. There are few researches on Muteh gold district, but a detailed model is not clear yet. The aim of this study is to determine mineralogy of gold-bearing rocks and the role of these rocks in concentration of gold and to improve our knowledge about Muteh model. Approach: Detailed… Show more

“…In the other side, the post-tectonic pyrite formed after these deformation events and characterized by undeformedeuhedral pyrite crystals (Figure 7(a)). The euhedral pyrite crystals are not affected by tectonic activation due to that they are formed, parageneticaly later [10].…”

“…chloritic, sericitic and phyllic alterations (Figure 2) were identified using the remote sensing techniques. These alteration zones are the key source of gold mineralization and also the path finder for further detailed exploration study [14]. Quick bird data of 0.5 m resolution was processed to map lithological and structural units pertaining to gold mineralization at larger scale of 1:5000.…”
