Perturbative generation of photon Lorentz violating terms from a pseudo-tensor Lorentz-breaking extension of QED

Abstract: We consider an extended QED with the addition of a dimension-five Lorentz-breaking coupling between spinor and gauge fields, involving a pseudo-tensor κ µνλρ . The specific form of the Lorentz violating coupling considered by us have been suggested in other works, and some of its consequences at the classical level were already studied. Here, we investigate the consequences of this specific form of Lorentz violation at the quantum level, evaluating the one loop corrections to the gauge field two-point function… Show more

“…As a first example, we consider the vertex proportional to H μναβ F , which corresponds to T μ = − 1 2 H αβλμ σ αβ ∂ λ . In this case, the calculations will be analogous to [61], with the only difference being the presence of the γ 5 factor which results in the mapping H αβλμ → 1 2 H σρ αβ σρλμ . Therefore, we can write (54) which yields, for the divergent part,…”

“…The study of the nonminimal operators was started with the development of the nonminimal versions of the SME for both the fermion [38] and the photon sector [39]. We also mention investigations which concern the point-charge self-energy [40], the study of radiative corrections [41][42][43][44][45], the search for Lorentz violation effects through boundary conditions [46].…”

“…Nevertheless, it should be noted that in principle, these terms can arise even if the magnetic coupling is not used, see [12,14]. Further, perturbative impacts of the CPT-even nonminimal coupling κ αβμν ψσ μν F αβ ψ were studied in [17,18].…”
