Perspectives on the Pharmacological Treatment of Heroin Addiction

Abstract: Opioids are very addictive drugs because of their powerful effects on reward and pain pathways in the brain. Opioid addiction is currently a worldwide problem and injecting heroin presents serious health risks including death from overdose.
