Perspectives of use of three-layer ferrite-dielectric waveguides for creation of integrated antennas with narrow beam

Abstract: In the report data of experimental research of three-layer ferrite-dielectric waveguides (FDW) in millimeter wave band has been represented. These waveguides are a basis of integrated phased arrays (IPA) with electrical control of beam position. IPA itself is founded on a travelling wave antenna principle. The maximum size of such antenna is determined by losses in the waveguide. The level of these losses for main FDW mode has been experimentally measured.
