Personalized Mobile Health Intervention for Health and Weight Loss in Postpartum Women Receiving Women, Infants, and Children Benefit: A Randomized Controlled Pilot Study

However, there is some evidence to suggest improved adherence to the intervention would improve weight management.

“…Several previous studies among postpartum women enrolled in WIC programs have observed no significant changes in body weight following a variety of intervention delivery modalities including DVDs and support group teleconferences [19], peer-led support groups [18], and mobile apps [45]. One study testing a 12-month intervention involving an internetbased weight loss program combined with text messages and monthly face-to-face sessions observed an average 3.2 kg weight loss among 371 women enrolled in WIC programs [46,47].…”

Given that the present study provided consultations over an 8‐week period only, future research should investigate the use and attendance rates of video‐consultations when the intervention is conducted over a longer period of time.…”

There are a few examples now of efficacious eHealth interventions delivered in WIC for management of weight during pregnancy or post‐partum that show promise for wide‐scale testing and dissemination .…”
