“…A postintervention evaluation of person-centered factors (Brown, 1996) was conducted and included collection of disability-specific data of personal independence using the Personal Independence Profile (Nosek, Fuhrer, & Howland, 1991), degree of societal handicap using the Craig Handicap Reporting Technique (Whiteneck, Charlifue, Gerhart, Overholser, & Richardson, 1992), device match information using the Assistive Technology Device Predisposition Assessment (Scherer Associates, 199 1 ), and developmental information on self-image using the Offer Self-Image Questionnaire (Offer, Ostrov, Howard, & Dolan, 1992). Results showed a young adult with low average self-image and feelings of inability to control her emotions, frequent depressive symptoms and family tension, and a focus on the negative.…”
