In this paper, we describe a novel imagebased person identification task. Traditional facebased person identification methods have a low tolerance for occluded situation, such as overlapping of people in an image. We focus on an image from an overhead camera. Using the overhead camera reduces a restriction of the installation location of a camera and solves the problem of occluded images. First, our method identifies the person's area in a captured image by using background subtraction. Then, it extracts four features from the area; (1) body size, (2) hair color, (3) hairstyle and (4) hair whorl. We apply the four features into the AdaBoost algorithm. Experimental result shows the effectiveness of our method.

Ahstract-This paper describes a method to estimate a set of body dimensions of a subject using the Microsoft KINECT sensor. Principal Component Analysis(PCA) of the AIST anthro pometric database shows first and second principal components are interpreted as scale and degree of obesity respectively. A few body dimensions were chosen by linear multiple regression analysis. Applying the resulting estimator to a given subject using the KINECT sensor to obtain joint positions and 3 body dimensions by analyzing depth image, we can estimate a set of body dimensions for the subject. The system is described and experimental results are shown.

Image processing technologies using garment image have been applied for some fields such as similar garment search technology and virtual fitting technology. With regard to similar garment search technology, it is a technique to retrieve same garment images shot from different viewpoints has not been researched sufficiently. However, it may be inferred that by using garment identification technology for person identification, it is possible to propose a detection method that does not depend on the direction of a person, compared to conventional methods based on biometric information like face information. It is thought that this can be effectively used for detecting and identifying a person within a limited space such as a kindergarten or a nursery school.In this research, we researched a method of discriminating children using features of garment. In this method, feature information is acquired from a pattern of garment, and a garment feature model is created for each child. The information used as a feature is three types. There are shape information by Hough transform, color feature based on color space, and frequency feature by discrete cosine transform.In the experiments, we created a feature model from the region determined by template matching with the pattern image and compare it with the feature model of the pattern, to measure the discrimination accuracy of the proposed method.Keywords: garment, garment identification, pattern matching. BackgroundImage processing techniques utilizing garment images have application fields such as similar garment retrieval technology and person identification technology.The similar garment retrieval technique is a method of retrieving clothes having features similar to designated garment by using the characteristics of the garment selected by the user. As features of garment, a method of digitizing colors and shapes(1) and a method of utilizing the local positional relationship of color space (2) and the like have been proposed. Currently, several applications for similar garment search using these methods have been developed and are being used by people. It is said that it is able to contribute to improvement of user satisfaction and usability, especially by combining it with online shopping site, since clothes matching various tastes can be retrieved from various clothes.
