“…The diagnosis or exclusion of early pregnancy among dialysis patients is thought to be demanding because it is generally believed that human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) serum concentrations can be elevated in dialysis patients even without pregnancy [5]. However, during the last four decades only three case reports and four small case series described 11 post-menopausal dialysis patients and nine dialysis patients of reproductive age showing elevated hCG serum concentrations in a range suggestive of gestational weeks 3 to 5 [6][7][8][9][10][11][12].
