“…It may be related to the prevention of development of autoantibodies to the drug. Similar to the reported findings in PsA, female gender predicts reduced response and lower survival on the biologics in ankylosing spondylitis and rheumatoid arthritis [49][50][51]. The reasons for these gender differences remain unclear.…”

“…Similar observational results focusing on long-term effectiveness have been reported in the literature reporting persistence between 22% and 41% by 3 years, but these studies did not observe patients for the length of time ours did [35,36]. A multitude of other observational and registry derived data are available which either followed patients for fewer years [37] or had followed considerably fewer patients [38].…”

“…Similar comparative results were reported from an Italian registry in which ETN was stated to have greater persistence than either ADA or IFX, although the overall persistence rates were higher than those seen in our study for all agents 43 . When switching to a second TNFi, no differences in persistence were noted among the agents 44 . These results suggest a variation in persistence in different populations, but overall persistence rates appear similar to those observed in our study.…”
