Persian Signature Verification Based on Fractal Dimension Using Testing Hypothesis

Abstract: A new approach for verifying off-line Persian signatures is presented, in this paper. In our method, feature extraction step is conducted based on estimated Fractal Dimension (FD) of signatures images, and making decision about acceptance/rejection of test signature is formulated as testing hypothesis which is used for the first time in order to verify offline Persian signatures. The proposed method has been tested on our new created database included 1000 genuine signatures and 200 skilled forgeries which hav… Show more

“…In [139], the authors used deep learning, i.e., CNN, to conduct the random forgery experiment. Additionally, a method based on estimating fractal dimensions of Persian offline signatures can be seen in [84]. More recently, authors propose to use geometrical features based on fixed-point arithmetic followed by an SVM as a classifier in [241].…”

“…Signature database were generally composited by western. Meanwhile, about signature recognition and verification research are mostly based on Latin [10], Chinese [11] and Arabic [12] handwritten signature and other languages, but one of them related with Uyghur handwritten signature. A lot of research has been carried out in Uyghur handwritten signature recognition [13,14] and verification [15].…”

“…Atefeh Foroozandeh et al [8] developed a new method for verifying off-line Persian signatures with extracted Fractal Dimension (FD) of signatures images as a features. The system has been tested with 1000 genuine signatures and 200 skilled forgeries that have been collected from a population of 100 human subjects with different person.…”
