Abstract:Using formulations of female sexual development grounded in the Persephone/Demeter myth, this paper examines the treatment of two adolescent girls in the aftermath of rape. Case material is presented that illustrates the impact of rape on a developing adolescent girl's relationship with her mother and on the transference to a female therapist.
