Peroxidase-Mimicking Nanozyme with Surface-Dispersed Pt Atoms as the Label for the Lateral Flow Immunoassay of C-Reactive Protein

Abstract: We report a new approach to synthesize nanozyme with low consumption of precious Pt-precursor and high peroxidase-mimicking activity. The synthesis includes the formation of gold nanoparticles (Au NPs), the overgrowth of a silver layer over Au NPs (Au@Ag NPs), and the galvanic replacement of Ag with PtCl62- leading to the formation of Au@Ag–Pt NPs with uniformly deposited catalytic Pt sites. The reported approach facilitates up to 20-times lower consumption of Pt p… Show more

“…Recent research has focused on introducing nanozymes as the detection labels for signal development, with the goal of improving assay perfor-mance and sensitivity. [49][50][51][52] We previously reported an ultrasensitive LFIA for the detection of p24, which is one of the earliest presenting HIV biomarkers, using a porous platinum coreshell structure (Figure 4A). [37] In this immunoassay, antibodyfunctionalized platinum nanocatalysts (PtNCs) displaying high internal surface area owing to an urchin-like morphology served as the detection probe.…”
