Peritoneal epithelial lesions associated with proliferative serous tumours of ovary

Abstract: The peritoneal epithelial lesions in 40 cases of proliferating ovarian serous tumour are described. The lesions were varied and of both neoplastic and non-neoplastic form. The most common was serous tumour similar to that in the associated ovarian neoplasm. Tumour of this type was present in some or all of the peritoneal lesions in 77.5% of cases. In nearly two-thirds, the tumour was superficial; in the rest it invaded omentum. Occasionally, the infiltrating tumour was poorly differentiated. Benign tubular les… Show more

“…Spontaneous regression of metastatic implants has also been reported.l6,I7 Some authors have classified implants as either noninvasive or invasive8~'s-22 and have attempted to correlate the type of metastatic implants with prognosis. [19][20][21][22] In an effort to understand better the biologic behavior of serous ovarian tumors of LMP with peritoneal implants and to devise a rational treatment approach, we reviewed our experience with this tumor at The University of Texas M. “…Cependant, il n'existe pas de preuve que l'aneuploïdie soit un facteur de risque indépendant.

“…2 Histopathology of endosalpingiosis and endometriosis several reported cases in which endosalpingiosis has created diagnostic problems, particularly when the cytologist is unaware of the morphology of the primary tumour [16,17,15]. As previously mentioned, endosalpingiosis may be associated with ovarian epithelial neoplasms, especially borderline or welldifferentiated lesions [19,20,21]. It has also been found in association with cervical carcinoma [16,17].…”

“…Macroscopically, this disease is usually not discernable. When it is visually obvious, endosalpingiosis can be seen as multiple white to yellow, translucent to opaque, punctate, fluid-filled cystic lesions [20].…”
